MR GBENGA OLUROTIMI OJO

REGISTRAR

Gbenga Olurotimi Ojo, a seasoned Administrator and Management Consultant, with a flair for strategic management and journalism was born on 5th May 1965 at OyeEkitiin Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State. He had his elementary education at United Primary School, Oye-Ekiti and St. David’s Primary School, Oke-ljebu, Akure, Ondo State before proceeding to Notre Dame College, Usi-Ekiti between 1977 and 1982 for his Secondary school education. He later proceeded to the prestigious University of Ibadan in 1984 and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1987. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja. He also holds a Certificate in Mass Communication and Speech Writing from the University of Lagos, Lagos.  He obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Calabar in 2007.

Recognizing the need to keep abreast of trends in modern techniques, he obtained a Certificate in Computer Application and Internet Literacy from the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in 2007.  He is a Fellow of the Certified Institute of Management, Institute of Corporate Administration, and Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management.  He is also a member of the Certified Board of Administrators of Nigeria and the Association of University Administrators (AUA) based in the United Kingdom.

He joined the services of the erstwhile College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti in 1988 as an Administrative Officer II and by dint of hard work, rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Registrar on October 1, 2005. In the course of his career and tour of duty in the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, spanning over thirty-two (32) years so far, he has traversed all the various divisions that make up the College Registry, mostly in headship capacity thereby distinguishing himself as an astute administrator. He is full of initiatives, drives, and certainly one of the finest breeds to have emerged from the administrative minefield.   No wonder, history was made on Thursday, May 24, 2012, when he became the first internal candidate to be appointed a substantive Registrar of the defunct College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti. To the glory of God, he is the pioneer Registrar of the BamideleOlumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti.

A striking attribute of this administrator per excellence is his passion to assist the downtrodden in society.  It is on good records that he has been providing exercise books for Primary Schools pupils in his native town, Oye-Ekiti for over eleven years and lately, school uniforms to indigent pupils in selected Primary Schools in Oye-Ekiti.  This erudite administrator, being a philanthropist, has for the past six years been granting scholarships to indigent students particularly from his Local Government within and outside the defunct College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.

Aside from his official calling, widely traveled Gbengahas been of immense and invaluable services to humanity and his native community, Oye-Ekiti. He is a patron to so many clubs, groups, and societies, among which are the Federation of OyeStudents’ Union; Oye Students’ Union, BamideleOlumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti Chapter, Oye-Ekiti Students’ Union, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti Chapter; Oye Students’ Union, Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti Chapter and Oye-Ekiti Youths to mention a few.

He was the National Secretary, OyeProgressive Union between 2004 and 2006; Member, Board of Trustees, Shekinah Assembly, Ado-Ekiti, and Chairman, Men Fellowship, Shekinah Assembly, Ado-Ekiti.  He is currently the Chapter Chairman, University of Ibadan, Alumni Association, IkereEkiti.

He has attended and presented papers at many workshops and seminars within and outside Nigeria and has been of immense service to the University and the Society at large, winning accolades and merit awards in the process.

It is worthy of note that he won awards from SSUCOEN, NASU, TUC, and WICE which distinguished him as the best Registrar in all Colleges of Education in Nigeria (Federal and State).  These National recognitions have earned him and the former College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti respect and honour.

Judging from all standpoints, the retinue of awards in his kitty gives an incontrovertible exception to the popular mantra that “a prophet is not honoured in his town”.  GbengaOjo swims in the pool of encomiums and accolades deservedly accorded him from within his work environment, hometown, and beyond.

His credentials are impressively tall and prepossessing as he is constantly celebrated for his intellectual and management apotheosis.
